Have you yet to work on your first responsive design project? If so, this webinar from Ektron and Realise Digital will get you up to speed with the central aspects of responsive web design and mobile first thinking.

Building a site according to the principles of responsive design means having a single design that adapts itself according to the device upon which it's being viewed, which is a more elegant system than having separate sites and separate content strategies for mobile devices. This free webinar will discuss the strategic considerations, technology required and best practices for building a responsive site, as well as the role that content management systems play in this picture.

You'll also learn about Luke Wroblewski's 'mobile first' ideology, which teaches that the design process should begin with the mobile site. Designing for mobile forces you to prioritise the key content and strip away unnecessary material, a process that provides greater clarity when building the desktop version.

The webinar is led by Bill Cava, chief evangelist at content management specialists Ektron, and will include contributions from Jon Binnie, a technical delivery manager at Realise Digital, and Jon Muir, senior web/tech developer also at Realise Digital.

Click here to register. It's free and will take place at 2pm on 28 August.

I had the pleasure of participating in a lecture-style workshop on responsive design last week called Build Responsively - produced by Sparkbox. I can't say enough good things about it! I would *strongly* suggest taking any opportunity for targeted instruction related to mobile-first responsive design. I wish I could attend this Webinar as well (I have obligations that day), but I strongly recommend people jump on board and attend. if this is 1/2 as good as the workshop I attended, it will be absolutely invaluable :)
